I took this last week using the Minolta 50mm f/1.7 Prime lens.I has a very shallow Depth Of Field as i used the lens wide open. The light is bright but not blown out. The Bokeh in the background is very nice for a low light photo.

I think that this is perhaps one of the best examples of a "Depth Of Field" and "Bokeh" that i have ever taken. The pile of metal in the center is from a "Mag Drill"
I chose to not use a flash and just use the ambient lighting. The pile of metal shavings in the foreground is out of focus as is everything in the background. I love the lights and big door open and the effects that happened with the light from the items. The blurring off the background turned out amazing to me.
I do not know if i could make this photo again.

I didn't realize until I processed the photo that there was a Vintage Vinyl sticker right in the middle of this tag.

I love how the worker is illuminated from the glow of his welding arc. The arc also makes the smoke glow that is coming from the process of him welding as well. I use a "Spot" Metering mode to get this effect like this out of the photo. You can see tools of his trade all around the area if you look at the photo in a larger size.

The item that he is welding is a big. It is about 12' by 18' and it is for a porch on a building. It has slates that go on the inside. It blocks the Sun, not a traditional cover that does not let the Sunlight come through. I used my Minolta 50mm f/1.7 for this photograph.

Taken using the Minolta 50mm f/1.7 Prime lens at work the other day. He is using a MIG welding rig to weld on aluminum. I love how the light is very soft and not harsh, illuminating his shirt

As i was walking around the shop late Friday afternoow looking for something to shoot, i saw this pile of scrap metal in a bin. I thought that i would use the built in flash as the ambient lighting is not so good. As you can see, my flash reflection is in the "U" shaped piece of metal and the ambient light is being reflected on the left side of the photo. I just liked the way the photo turned out.

This is a photo of several beams laying on top of each other. I like to think of it as "Metal Bokeh" due to the focal point being the beam that is directly in the center of the photography. I used the built in flash for this photo. The lighting is rather harsh in this photo but it is metal and not a soft material to work with.

I took this at work yesterday. It is a pile of Rebar that is had to be secured onto another piece of metal. It is the wrong kind to be welded on. I was asked by one of my coworkers to bring my camera and take several photos for him. This is one of them.
I love the colors and textures of the new and old metal. The rust is in contrast with the new rebar that is along side of it. I used a "Fill Flash" to remove any shadows that were on it.
